My Philosophy of Education Essay - 1611 Words

Philosophy of Education One characteristic of a good teacher is a sound philosophy of education. This will ensure the readiness of the teacher in the classroom setting. The philosophy should be thought out with care and contain concrete ideas concerning several aspects of education. My philosophy of education contains my view about: the nature of students, the nature of knowledge, the purpose of public education, teaching methods, and curriculum. People have many different views about the nature of students. Like Rousseau, I feel that students are neither good nor evil. The situations they encounter in their everyday lives shape the way they behave and the person they become. Intelligence is valuable and should be enhanced whenever an oppor tunity presents itself. To a certain extent, I agree with Socrates and Plato’s philosophy of education. I think that intelligence is shaped into different levels. Students should be placed in a situation where they will benefit the most. I feel that students possess the same intelligence, however, I also believe that it develops at different rates. For optimum success, students should be place in a setting where the other students are developing at the same rate. I also agree with Plato and Socrates’ belief about the nature of knowledge. The nature of knowledge is absolute. I feel that the student has to discover it, and it is the teacher’s job to present the material in such a manner that the student desires to discover the knowledge available from the teacher. Absolute knowledge remains constant throughout place and time. Reason will find truth. Education serves several purposes in our society. Education prepares youth for their place in society. Emotional Voices Of Shakespeare s The Merchant Of...

William Shakespeare expresses Shylock and Hamlet’s emotional voices explicitly throughout both plays: The Merchant of Venice and Hamlet. The emotional voices in both texts were due to the tragic incidences each protagonist – Shylock and Hamlet - endured. In The Merchant of Venice the emotions seen within the text are hatred and penitence, whereas in Hamlet the audience can infer that the emotions portrayed are depression, pain and terror; thus instigating that there is a contrasting concept between The Merchant of Venice and Hamlet. This can be seen through Hamlet’s situation where his emotions were triggered by his father’s passing. As stated in Act 4 Scene 4, he utters: â€Å"My thoughts be bloody or be nothing worth†. The word ‘bloody’ suggests that he has malicious intentions as he indicated obliviously that he wanted to avenge his father. Hamlet cannot afford to think of anything other than his unsettled task: execute his fatherâ €™s assumed murderer. This brings out his emotional voice – vengeance - as the death of his father had an enormous impact on him, leading him to become depressed and paranoid throughout the play. Dissimilarly, Shylock’s emotion had been caused by the mistreatment he suffered as a result of him being a Jew in a Christian community. Anti-Semitism was omnipresent in Venice, signifying that Shylock was discriminated against pervasively. This led him to channel all his anger towards the Christians because of the inevitable exploitation heShow MoreRelatedAnalysis Of Film Production Of The Merchant Of Venice1249 Words   |  5 PagesFilm Review Michael Radford s 2004 film production of The Merchant of Venice provides a well-executed and generally faithful rendition of Shakespeare s play. Why One Direction Is Not A Punk Rock Band free essay sample

For example Matthew states, One Direction does not create controversy with songs they publish because they want to be sold world-wide so they can make as much money as possible. I strongly agree with this statement because none of their songs depict any problems in society, and none of their songs are very different than from what other mainstream bands are doing. One Direction works to make as much money as they can around the world, rather than performing from their heart and working to change social norms. This is evident if you listen to their lyrics and watch them live in concert. Another valid point Matthew brings up is that One Direction is not punk rock because they do not stand out against political and social norms like punk bands of the past did. Standing out and being different than others during their time is a major part of being considered punk rock. We will write a custom essay sample on Why One Direction Is Not A Punk Rock Band or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Matthew writes a very strong paper and does a very good job of pointing out valid flaws in One Direction that pushes them away from being considered punk rock.My views are in complete alignment with the views pointed out in Matthews paper. One Direction worries too much on how others will view them and if they will make enough money, rather than working from their hearts and singing what they really are passionate about, regardless of social norms.

There is an argument saying that more than 200 languages existing on earth nowadays and has been used for communication.by the trend of globalization, foreign language become a main subject that fixed in curriculum ever since we are young for majority of the population in the world. However recent data shows that, 96% of the worlds languages are spoken just by 4% of the people. Whats more, it is quite necessary to keep an eye on the linguistic diversity. Each language has its own individual identity and value. And it indicates the mental process of the people whos using it.
